Nutrient Advantage Advice

    Overview

Overview

Every day primary producers make decisions about their farming enterprises, often with very significant ramifications for themselves and Australian agriculture. A key component in this daily management process is making the right decision regarding nutrition and fertilisers.

Incitec Pivot's Nutrient Advantage process is an analytical and interpretative service that provides farmers with soil fertility and fertiliser advice. The Incitec Pivot Nutrient Advantage process and software is Australia's leading service of its type and should be used as an integral part of sound farm management.

Incitec Pivot's Nutrient Advantage process consists of six steps:

  • Sampling and laboratory analysis
  • Interpretation of analysis
  • Keys to interpretation
  • Application of local knowledge
  • Nutrient calculations
  • CRAFT recommendation

The first step, sampling and laboratory analysis are standard processes. Click to obtain information guides  on how to sample soils, plants and water. You can view the analysis options here. The second step, interpretation of results, is based in a series of interpretative charts specific to agricultural regions and farming enterprises thoughout Australia. These charts are central to the Nutrient Advantage software.

The keys to interpretation form the third step in the process. The keys build on the information contained in the interpretative charts and add further clarification to the interpretation of each nutrient.

Incitec Pivot recognises the value of local knowledge in fine-tuning the charts and keys. That's why the fourth step is included in the process. In making any recommendation, consideration must be always given to the objectives and resources of the farmer, and to the local environment and conditions.

Step five involves matching fertiliser products to the required rate of nutrient recommended for the situation and the logistics best serving for the farmer's needs.

The final step in Incitec Pivot's Nutrient Advantage process is to develop a CRAFT recommendation based on the previous five steps in the process and deliver a report that is easy to interpret.

Through Incitec Pivot's Nutrient Advantage process, growers are given first rate advice on particular critical business decisions. In assessing the complex nutrient pathways that exist in the soil, it is impossible to account accurately for all of the variables at play, but Incitec Pivot's six step Nutrient Advantage process helps to reduce the number of uncertainties.
